Hey man, the exact same thing just happened to me.
I was able to set up the system no problem. I start Titanfall 2, no problem. After about 45 minutes of playing, my screen goes black and the system turns off. I press the Xbox logo, nothing. Unplug, then replug, nothing. Press the Xbox logo again on console for 10 seconds, nothing. I swap out the one x with my old one s, but keep the same cords, my one s powers up no problem.
ÖMy One X is dead.

Exactly how prevalent is this? Type 1 in chat if you encountered this

Mine did that when it was updating I let it sit there and it eventually came back this has also happened to me with the old xbone. Hopefully this is the issue for you op. People have also reported not realizing they didnít push the cord all the way in. Not saying that as an insult either

every time someone has something happen are they going to make a thread as if its a widespread thing....that nobody is reporting on. but because of it happened to them they are looking to start a negative thread.
Just contact MS, and report the issue, it sounds like a software issue.

The gamers nexus teardown showed that the thermal paste was completely died out and crusty on the cpu. There may have been an iffy batch or something.

Since 100% of owners are not on neogaf. Other forums have many reported cases.

Itís all anecdotal but at this stage itís impossible to know. Could turn out to be a launch 360 or a (insert moderately solid machine name here)

Only problem with mine is that it's so quiet I keep forgetting to turn it off. It's like a damn electric car. First set of batteries already showing red on the controller, but no issues at all.

Its happened to me a couple of times, Iíve just held the power button on console for 10 seconds to reset.

It seems to be a bug rather than a hardware issue so I will wait and see if itís patched.

For me it was going from Titanfall 2 to home that seems to trigger the fault.

Black Screen? What a dumb name...it's just dead. There isn't anything unique about it. The thing is not turned on, it's a brick. I don't know why semantics bother me, but this is a dumb name.

Saw some people have the same problem on reddit. I think it turned out to be a faulty power cable, they switched it with the Xbox One S or a new one and it fixed it.

Surely the word plagued, whether in quotation marks or not, should only be used if this was a common problem?

Yeah that wasn't a good look for Microsoft. Also sounds like the random shutting down problem stated elsewhere in this topic is a thermal problem. System shutting down to prevent overheating.

I once had crusty tim on my cpu (hadn't used it in 3 months) and the cpu thermal throttled like crazy even on windows boot. Replacing the tim made a world of difference.

I also replaced the tim on my ps4 which made it a pretty much silent console.

At first I thought this could be talking about a HDMI issue, but after reading this

my screen goes black and the system turns off

seems like it's just a faulty console.

Many others are plagued by sore jaws and bleeding, dry eyes from the thumping sound and razor sharp graphics...

Seriously though using terms like "plagued," "widespread," and "many" is very hyperbolic at this point. Only MS knows what they have sold vs. failures and improperly reporting failures with terms like above is very suspicious.

It's a non-story. People who have the issues can exchange hassle free. Every console has failures and issues, including the PS4. Manufacturing isn't a perfect process.

I will gladly eat my own crow if this actual lay turns into a "red ring" issue.
