Is it real 4K though?

A lot of movies are still filmed or have their post production done at 2K resolution so it's still being upscaled.

I was more excited for blu-ray because it was [almost] always 1080p.

I bet my left sock is not. Very few movies with special effects are "done" at real 4K . For most the DI is 4K but the effects are still done at 1080p because its both cheaper and faster.

Also, notice the wording, "remaster" gives it away. If they had the full movie already at 4K there would be nothing to remaster.

It'll still be a big improvement over the original releases along with HDR.

I have a lot of 4k blu rays and even 2k masters look great. Obviously you can really tell with a proper 4k release a difference but compared to 1080p blu-ray it's still a nice jump.

Only thing I am finding is this. I do not know what it is meaning, though, when it says it was filmed using 35mm but rendering in 4K.

It's also the wrong costume.

I could be wrong, but the cowl looks like the ones used for Dark Knight and Rises.

I don't know where the site gets its info but if what they're saying is right then these blu rays are true 4K. Nolan shooting in film (which the resolution is over 4k) they're just digitally down converting it instead of other moves which are shot in lower resolution but have a uhd release. I don't know the effects on nolans films are in 4k for sure though...

I trust AVforums more but they haven't updated their list for awhile

That site is total rubbish and usually wrong..

Also my phone auto corrected 8k to 4k

The vfx was shot for Imax resolution, hence the chopper crash looking ps2 rough at times.

Any conversion to Atmos/7.1/DTS:X?

Since I know Nolan has done 5.1 forever

He is strictly 5.1 and all his films will be, they are all out the same day but the Americans here will have to import the Prestige

hoping for a quick move to digital for this. Sadly I have found the justification to move to blu-ray 4K yet (mostly not wanting another stand alone player in my setup)

Although, I'd rather get digital version.

Dammit, the only way I was going to buy a 4K UHD player was if Interstellar was released for it. I was half hoping it wouldnít be so I didnít have to invest in another medium but there goes that.

Also, that HDR logo is obnoxious...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but HDR10+ does same thing, without having to pay Dolby royalties.

Yes but I doubt any discs coming this year will have HDR10+.

Also not getting my hopes up for LG updating 2016 OLEDs.

I was excited to buy a bunch of movies in 4k. But so many movies that have digital effects are being mastered in 2k and upscaled. So I have been disappointed overall. And at 30 bucks a pop I can keep investing in subpar quality.

If you'd ever been to see it in 15 perf IMAX, you'd understand there should be no issues getting a measly 4k master together.

I still haven't watch Dark Knight Rises...have been waiting for the right moment.

And I was out of the Country when Dunkirk was on IMAX theaters.

I've preordered Interstellar 4K already...but will cancel that if I can somehow get this. O_O
